Eye Issues & Diseases

Eye Issues & Diseases

Eye diseases can rob you of your sight, often without warning. To help safeguard your sight all comprehensive eye exams offered by Warman Eyecare include tests for detecting eye diseases and other potential issues.

The best way to safeguard your vision is to undergo regular eye exams.

Are you due for an eye exam? Request your appointment today.

Glaucoma Testing & Management

Glaucoma is one of the most common causes of blindness in Canada. Glaucoma does not exhibit symptoms in its early stages, making it difficult to catch without an eye exam. Many glaucoma patients don’t realize something is wrong until they have already experienced permanent peripheral vision loss.

For more information about glaucoma, including glaucoma testing, and management strategies, please visit our Glaucoma Testing & Management page.

Flashes & Floaters

Most floaters are harmless, but not always. If you experience a sudden increase in floaters, accompanied by flashes of light, you may be experiencing a retinal tear or retinal detachment.

Retinal tears and retinal detachments can lead to permanent vision loss, or even blindness, if they are not treated quickly.

If you are experiencing a sudden onset of flashes and/or floaters, please call Warman Eyecare right away at (306) 700-3474 during office hours or (306) 500-6062 after hours, or proceed to your nearest emergency room.

For more information about flashes and floaters, please visit our Flashes & Floaters page.

Dry Eye Treatment

Dry, irritated eyes are uncomfortable, but relief is available at Warman Eyecare.

For more information about dry eyes, including diagnosing the root cause and treatment options available, please visit our Dry Eye Treatment page.

Digital Eye Strain

When we spend long periods of time staring at our computer screens, tablets, and smartphones, it puts a lot of strain on our eyes. Prolonged digital device use also causes us to blink less, which can make our eyes dry and irritated. This leads to digital eye strain, which can cause headaches and impact our productivity.

For more information about digital eye strain, including information on how to reduce symptoms, please visit our Diabetic Eye Exams page.

Conjunctivitis

There are three main types of conjunctivitis: allergic, bacterial, and viral. Though all three may have similar symptoms, they have different root causes and require different treatment approaches.

If you suspect you have conjunctivitis, you should visit your optometrist as soon as possible for treatment, if indicated. Depending on the cause, strain you may be contagious.

For more information about conjunctivitis, please visit our Conjunctivitis page.

Cataract Exam & Management

Cataracts are a normal part of the ageing process, but that doesn’t mean that there is nothing that can be done about them. Cataract surgery is a quick procedure that can help improve your vision and your quality of life.

For more information about cataracts, please visit our Cataract Exam & Management page.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (also called AMD), is a disease that affects the central vision, and mostly arises in individuals over the age of 60. AMD may not show symptoms in its early stages, which means that some patients may not realize they have AMD until they begin to experience permanent vision loss.

The best way to safeguard your vision is to undergo regular eye exams.

For more information about AMD, please visit our Age-Related Macular Degeneration page.
